NEWS RELEASE for immediate release: 5 August 2009 ACIMA Awards First Life Membership At its annual general meeting in Adelaide on 3 August 2009 the Australian Cellulose Insulation Manufacturers Association (ACIMA) awarded its inaugural life membership to its Immediate Past President, Laurie Moylan. ACIMA members are a major supplier of environmentally friendly insulation to Australia's annual $600 million insulation market. They are also major suppliers to the current Commonwealth Department of the Environment's Home Insulation Program (HIP). Incoming President, Andrew Arblaster, said it was fitting that Laurie Moylan be awarded the first Association life membership given his outstanding service to the Australian cellulose insulation industry for more than 25 years. "Laurie has successfully led the industry through the many challenging issues served up to our members by both the rapidly changing regulatory environment & multinational competitors. "He has been ACIMA's representative in all insulation & building standards matters, and Federal & State government energy efficiency consultative committees, for the past two decades, and for that the cellulose industry will be forever grateful. "Laurie was the Association's representative on the crucial BD58 Insulation Product Committee which developed the AS/NZS 4859.1:2002 insulation product standard over 14 years. Such was the standing he enjoyed in the insulation industry generally, in 1998 he was elected the inaugural President of the Insulation Manufacturers Association of Australia (IMAA) the then peak body for all insulation products manufactured in Australia. ACIMA Executive Treasurer, John Nowill, told the meeting that Laurie's commitment to his ACIMA representative role was shown by the fact he gave so freely of both his time and financial resources to ensure the cellulose insulation industry achieved the best possible policy outcomes. ________________________________________________________________ For further information contact: Kevin Herbert - ACIMA Secretary: 0418 679 131
